Most apps are free and the good ones have a Pro or Premium version that is often not that expensive - from $.99 and up.

How to Get the MOST out of your smartphone: USE APPS!

Think about the programs you use. Look up sites online to see if they have a mobile app.  Generally, you can use these on both your smartphone and tablet.

Think about things you like to do or see (hobbies):  Generally, there is an app for that - Examples:

  • I listen to radio stations in Greece and South Africa for free.
  • I’ve downloaded language apps.
  • Traveling somewhere? You can download great apps so you can read a little bit about where you’re going before you go there.
  • I’ve got several exercise apps that let me stay in shape at home. I love them.
  • Like to walk / bicycle? There are apps that can track your route so you can reuse them or share with others or calculate distance.
  • Like to cook? there are fabulous recipe apps
  • Like to Fish?  I’ve got great apps that tell me about tides, types of fish, how to do specialty knots

Think about things you would LIKE to learn about: - music, language, history, etc.  There’s an app for that!

Think about the organizations or associations you belong to:
For example, I’m a member of IEEE - they have a fabulous app where I watch videos when I’m waiting.  I learn and wait at the same time.
